Breaking News: Reed Lies About Cause of Riot on B-CU Campus

The B-CU media spokesperson(s) are very creative with how they quickly come up with cover up stories to hide illegal activity on the campus. The true story is that a riot broke out earlier today in the Oswald P. Bronson male dormitory adjacent to Martin Luther King Blvd. leading to an all out "free for all" brawl between students, faculty and staff. The massive fight of over 100 students led to student arrests, hospitalization of certain students, and major confusion on the campus. There are physical damages to the dorm rooms, student property, etc. as a result of this latest incident.

Daytona Beach Police Chief, Michael Chitwood, is working with Dr. Reed to assist with the cover up story. His interview with Channel 13 News suggests that the melee broke out after the sprinkler system went off in the dorm. What really happened was that the riot was sparked after a Dean choked a student and punched him in the chest which caused the student to have a seizure. Once the word spread like wildfire, the students started to riot.

Students were mased by police and others were injured. Students who reside in Bronson Hall weren't allowed to speak to the media. Dr. Reed is managing the situation by calling a meeting in the Heyn Memorial chapel and telling the students not to panic. I do not know who she is trying to fool, but the sudents, faculty, and staff are aware of the real story. How many more incidents like this do we need to happen on the B-CU campus for us to realize that Reed's administration is doing a piss poor job managing the University and its sudents?!?

Students need to call their parents and/or speak to the media (in writing or by phone) and share their horrible experiences under Reed's presidency. She has created a state of fear on the campus. If my son or daughter attended the University, I would demand a refund immediately. The students, faculty and staff are not safe on that campus.

Word to the wise, please don't believe everything you read in the news.

Always in fighting trim,

CR, Reporting live from B-CU campus

What in the world is going on at the campus of Bethune-Cookman University? My sister called me out of court today to tell me about the chaos on campus. Her boyfriend was assaulted (allegedly must I add) by Daytona Beach police. Dr. Reed insists on spreading her demonic lies to the student body, faculty, and staff telling the students that the situation is under control. I found this video link on youtube.com when I did a google search. It doesn't appear that Dr. Reed and her administrators have things under control. The campus is under siege as it appears to me and as 'Cookman Rebel' had warned us about in her previous postings. Are the parents calling Dr. Reed's office? Are they coming to pick up their children? This is outrageous! I also heard that Dr. Reed is protecting the DBPD, particularly, the fashion in which they used riot gear on college students, not thugs/criminals, but law-abiding college students. They are claiming that fire extinguishers caused the students' eyes to burn. What kind of foolishness is this? How naive does Dr. Reed and Police Chief Chitwood believe the public are?

The students were only reacting to an incident that placed one of their peers in harm's way. To hear that a staff member would deliberately choke a student, punch him, and cause a seizure is beyond belief. To make matters even worse, the University administators are not disclosing truthful and accurate details to the media. What is Dr. Reed afraid of? Also, why has the media, particularly the Daytona News-Journal, refused to allow the public to make comments on their blog whenever there are news pertaining the B-CU. They don't do that for any other news article on their site. Does that strike anyone as wierd and unconventional? Has Dr. Reed paid off the local newspapers?

I believe this calls for a class action lawsuit against Bethune-Cookman University and the Daytona Beach Police Department. Students must rise against their oppressors. If you need legal assistance, please feel free to contact me. I will refer you to a good law firm that will take your case(s).

My sources tell me that there is a video of the Dean beating up the student. If anyone has a copy of such video or any other videos relating to today's riot, please forward it to cookmanrebel@yahoo.com. I dont know how I would have acted if my computer and tv were damaged and all my clothes were wet and I was told that bc I signed a waiver Cookman is not responsible....

Secondly... It was my understanding that Trudie was on vacation... are you saying she was on campus????

Reed does not physically need to be on the campus. She runs the show even while she is out of town. Nothing goes on without her input. Her blackberry is always on her unflattering large hip.

Hello Che:

I just clicked on various local news stories at the Daytona paper's website, and all allow comments--except for the BCU story. This is clearly a suppression of any discussion of BCU, and on what basis? If they're going to be responsible journalists and engage in such suppression of dialogue, don't they have an obligation to tell the public this, and invite comments on that story?

Meanwhile, the Miami Herald article about the BCU riots does allow comments, and has the following notice where it invites comments:

"The Miami Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point."

The discrepancy between the Miami and the Daytona paper says to me that the Daytona paper does not encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day. Since we both know for sure Trudie Reed doesn't encourage such debate, we have to conclude she's calling the shots at the local paper--a very bad sign for the state of journalism in Daytona Beach.

This is a trend, which means she is definitely controlling things. There has to be someone powerful leaning hard on the local paper, or her hard-working attorneys are threatening lawsuits--or both. It's unprofessional of the paper to behave as it's behaving.

I hope some news agencies beyond BCU will end up trying to do accurate reporting on these stories.

I am sorry that their are still issues on the BCU campus. Please take a look at the lawsuit in 1996. It is hard to fight Bethune-Cookman. How do I know, you ask? I tried to fight the scholarship fund years ago. I was up against 5 lawyers and the lawyer that I spoke to stated that he saw it as a open and shut case in my favor. The best way to solve this situation is to transfer to a different college if you have less than 60 credits.

The mother of a freshman student posted this on the Orlando Sentinel's blog for the article. She could not have described the incident any better.

I am a mother of a student--a freshman who attends BCU.

1. The sprinklers were accidentally set off by a student who hung a short on a hanger from one sprinkler head.

2. The students on the first floor approached the RA regarding reimbursement, and he responded flippantly stating they were getting nothing and to get out of his face. He even accused one boy of smoking, and causing the fire.

3. As friends were taking their friend away, the RA sucker punched the kid; and he fell into convulsions--a full-blown seizure. He is now in the hospital--spitting up blood.

4. The RA--a 40 yr old bouncer at a local club at night, THEN sprayed the other students with the fire extinguisher.

5. The students went after him, and he locked himself in the Dean's office--still not alerting the administration.

6. He then hid on campus; the police found him and arrested him. He sits in jail, now. He was wrong--not the students.

7. It was not about the items soaked, but the disrespect the freshman students were treated with. The young man's parents PAY his PRIVATE tuition, as I do for my son. We receive NO financial aid.

8. The president of BCU has taken some of the affected students shopping for temporary replacement items, and has heard their concerns.

Get the facts straight before judging the students; this time they were the victims--with one sitting in the hospital receiving x-rays, now

It is time to get rid of the Queen of Chaos, Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed. Cookman has been marked by chaos and instability since Reed set her demonic feet on the hallowed ground called B-CC and now B-CU. The fish rots from the head. Cookman is going down and the only thing that can save Cookman is the immediate removal of Trudie by armed security guards. There is no way any school can survive with all these dysfunctions. Reed and her gang of perverts and criminals have no regards for the rule of law and they do not care for the students. They are in the business for themselves and their lovers. They created the chaos and the students are just reacting to the chaos created by the Christian lesbians and the downlow preachers and former band leaders. B-CU students, faculty, staff, alumni and all the lovers of B-CU must continue this struggle by the courageous students and see to it that these criminals led by Reed, Bryant, Montgomery, Powell, Brooks, McCoy, Johnson, Joan Thompson and others` are disgraced and sent packing. REED MUST GO! REED MUST GO! HAIL B-CU Students. Continue the struggle and no rest until success is achieved.
